Evergreen Towing’s story began long before the company officially opened its doors—and it started with a very memorable 16th birthday.
On Dave Anstett’s 16th birthday, he got his driver’s license and was excited about the independence that came with finally being able to drive himself wherever he needed to go. Unfortunately, his first day behind the wheel didn’t go quite as planned.
Dave started the day driving around with friends when he was involved in an accident that wasn’t his fault, leaving him without a car. He asked his mom if he could borrow hers and, unbelievably, was involved in a second accident—again, not his fault.
Later that evening, Dave had a school dance to attend. With two cars already out of commission, he asked his dad if he could borrow his car. His dad agreed, and Dave headed to the dance. On the way home, he was involved in his third accident of the day.
After three wrecked vehicles in one birthday, Dave’s dad had had enough. He told him he wouldn’t be driving again until every one of those cars was fixed.
And that’s where the story really begins.
Determined to get back on the road, Dave went down to Chris’s Auto and Towing and began looking through the windows, hoping he could learn how to repair the damaged vehicles. The owner came outside, saw him looking in, and asked him a simple question:
“Do you know how to use a broom?”
That broom became Dave’s introduction to the automotive and towing industry.
Over the years, Dave worked in several different areas of the automotive business, but towing remained his passion.
In 1987, Dave purchased Evergreen Frame & Carriage from Bob Labade at 216 N. Gales Street in Port Angeles, Washington. While operating Evergreen Frame & Carriage and continuing to provide towing services, Dave began building another shop in Sequim.
When the Sequim location was ready to open, the businesses became Evergreen Collision Centers, Inc. Although “towing” wasn’t in the corporation’s name, it was always an important part of the business. Evergreen Towing was officially established in 1990 alongside the corporation, operating from 391 W. Washington Street in Sequim.
In 1994, Dave’s story came full circle when he purchased Chris’s Auto and Towing at 820 E. Front Street in Port Angeles—the same business where his automotive career had begun after that unforgettable 16th birthday. The purchase also brought Peninsula Towing into the Evergreen family.
In 1995–1996, Dave expanded again with the purchase of Alpine Auto, Inc., which also included towing services.
Then, in 2000, he purchased All City Auto Body and Towing at 518 Logan Street in Port Townsend, further expanding the company’s ability to serve drivers throughout the Olympic Peninsula.
What began with three accidents, a determined 16-year-old, and a broom grew into decades of experience serving drivers across the Olympic Peninsula.
Today, Evergreen Towing, Peninsula Towing, Alpine Towing, and All City Towing continue that tradition. When you need experienced, dependable towing on the Washington Peninsula, you can count on our team to take care of you and your vehicle the right way.
